Why this project was needed
The digital gap between Southern Italy and the rest of the country — and Europe — is well known. Local businesses often struggle to access specialized expertise in cybersecurity and digital transformation. Institutions lack the infrastructure needed to train future professionals. And local talent too often finds it easier to relocate than to build a career in Sicily.
The Cyber Center was created to address this gap — not through statements, but through tangible infrastructure, real technologies, and an operational model designed to generate measurable regional impact: creating job opportunities, attracting talent, supporting local businesses in their digital evolution, and positioning Catania — and Sicily — as a key innovation hub in the Mediterranean.

The building itself is a technological Lab
The Cyber Center does not just host technology — it is technology. è tecnologia. Un A centralized Building Management System controls in real time: photovoltaic systems, integrated security, license plate recognition access control, air quality-based climate systems, and adaptive lighting. This “operating system for the building” reduces energy consumption by over 50% and ensures business continuity even in critical scenarios.
